The OSCE Academy Hosted the Third Alumni Conference

On 12-14 September 2014 the OSCE Academy hosted its 3rd Alumni Conference titled "Central Asia: Comprehensive Security and Sustainable Development". The event was opened by a keynote speech of Dr Rick Fawn, Professor of International Relations of the University of St Andrews on "Regions in world politics: lucky to study (in) Central Asia". Fifteen graduates of the OSCE Academy presented their papers in panels organized along the three OSCE dimensions. The presentations touched upon the security in Central Asia and Afghanistan; role of the OSCE in regional stability and democratization of Central Asia; human security and labor migration; energy issues and impact of the Eurasian Economic Union and other important for the region issues. Dr. Pal Dunay, Director of the OSCE Academy, Mr. Talant Sultanov, Director of the National Institute for Strategic Studies (NISS) and Mr. Shairbek Juraev, Deputy Director of the OSCE Academy, chaired and moderated the conference panels.
