High-Level Professionals meet Students to share their Experiences

Between 5-7 April students of the MA Programme in Economic Governance and Development met high-level representatives of the business and public sectors of Kyrgyzstan within the framework of the Economic Governance and Regulations course, taught by Dr. David Grant. On 5 April the President of “Kyrgyz Concept” Company, Mr Emil Umetaliev, shared with students his personal professional development, discussed the obstacles business in Kyrgyzstan faces, and his ideas and projects on how to improve the situation. Students enthusiastically followed up on Mr. Umetaliev’s suggestions and engaged into a lively round of questions and answers.


On 7 April  a Chairman of the Board of National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic  and former Prime Minister of Kyrgyz Republic Mr Tolkunbek Abdygulov presented students “Role and Functions of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic including Regulation.” Mr. Abdygulov provided considerable information regarding regulations of the bank, monetary policy and framework, transmission mechanism, credit channels, and liquidity issues. He also talked about present inflation rate (5-7%) and discount rate (5%) prevailing in the country. Mr. Abdygulov well addressed all the questions from the students about Islamic Banking in Kyrgyzstan, Crypto currency, Eurasian Economic Union and Kyrgyz-Russian fund in Kyrgyzstan.
