18 March, 2019

On 15 March the OSCE Academy was honored to welcome a delegation of Norwegian Diplomats, who visited the OSCE Academy to meet the students of the Masters’ Programmes and to discuss with them the relation and cooperation of Norway with the OSCE. The delegation was headed by Ms. Helene Sand Andresen, Deputy Director of the Section for Russia, Eurasia and regional co-operation, of the Royal Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Mr. Henning Hj. Johansen, Minister Counsellor of the Permanent Mission of Norway to the OSCE.

During the lecture students learned from the diplomats more about the general functioning of the OSCE as well as got to know old and new priorities of Norway’s work with and for the OSCE. The lecture was followed by a discussion on the visibility of the organization’s actions and the establishment of the general public’s trust; the prioritization of certain OSCE dimensions and challenges the organization faces while identifying those priorities; the possible expansion of the OSCE, with the question of Afghan membership as the crucial topic; and the Russian-Norwegian relations and many more related issues.

The visit was concluded by a discussion with the Director about the current activities of the Academy and plans for the near future.
