Swedish Diplomats meet Academy’s Students and Alumni

22 April, 2019

On 18 April Sweden’s Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic, H.E. Christian Kamill, and Desk Officer for Central Asia at the Swedish MFA, Mr. Ludvig Foghammar, met OSCE Academy’s MA students and alumni to discuss Sweden’s presence in the region and its foreign relations to the Central Asian countries. Ambassador Kamill talked about his diplomatic work in Central Asian, and the functions and objectives of Sweden’s representation in the region. Considering the rather small presence often activities are realized jointly with other Nordic countries, like Norway and Finland. In the discussion round students asked the Ambassador and Mr. Foghammar about the cooperation between the Nordic countries and the possibilities to its emulation in Central Asia. Our participants from Afghanistan were interested in Sweden’s projects in Afghanistan and their prospects in the coming years. After the Ambassador’s speech students were asked to share their Master Theses topics and their knowledge about the relations of the Central Asian countries with each other as well as with wider Eurasia, politically as well as economically.

This was Ambassador Kamill’s second visit to the OSCE Academy. His first introductory visit took place on 25 May 2018, when the Ambassador learned about the OSCE Academy’s developments and activities from Director Dr. Alexander Wolters.
