Academy hosted an Opening Ceremony of the Analytical Centre under the Kyrgyz State Customs Service

On 22 May the OSCE Academy hosted the official opening ceremony of the “Central Eurasian Transboundary Research Network” (CETRN) – an analytical centre under the Kyrgyz State Customs Service. The ceremony was opened by Ambassador Pierre von Arx, Head of the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek. “This centre was opened with the assistance of the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek in October 2018 as part of the co-operation plan for 2018 between the State Customs Service under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek in order to raise awareness and increase the study of regional economic and trade initiatives” – underlined Ambassador and highlighted that the OSCE Academy was chosen as a venue, as “it gathers young professionals and future leaders for all Central Asian countries, Afghanistan and Mongolia."

The ceremony was followed by the speech of Mr. Shamil Berdaliev, Head of the Kyrgyz Customs Training Centre, who also emphasized the importance of this centre and conveyed his appreciation to the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek and in particular to Ambassador, for the continues cooperation.

The opening part of the ceremony was concluded by Ms. Indira Satarkulova, Deputy Director of the OSCE Academy. Ms. Satarkulova welcomed distinguished guests at the Academy and expressed the interest in cooperation between the Academy and the Analytical Centre and encouraged Academy students to publish their works on this platform.

Following the welcoming speeches, Mr. Denis Berdakov, Co-ordinator of the Analytical Centre, made a presentation about the work of the Centre (www.cetrn.org), described its main tasks and answered the questions from the audience.

The ceremony was attended by the representatives of the State structures, Diplomatic Corps and International Organizations.
