Guest Lecture by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of JIA

On 19 June students of the MA Programme in Economic Governance and Development had a chance to meet Mr. Temirbek Azhykulov, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Business Association JIA, within the framework of the Economics and Regulation of Energy Sector course taught by Dr. Bedelbai Mamadiev. Mr. Azhykulov shared his personal and professional experiences of working in the Energy sector. In particular, he talked about his 12 years in the oil and gas industry with geological prospecting, geophysical exploration and drilling operations for oil and gas in southern Kyrgyzstan, north Tajikistan and in the Fergana valley of Uzbekistan.

Bio: Mr. Temirbek Azhykulov holds a master degree in public administration from Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, Singapore and has extensive experience in various sectors of the economy.

He began his career in an international engineering and construction consulting company. He worked as a lawyer, then as a CEO of South Petroleum Company, the daughter company of Santos International Holdings PTY LTD with a head office in Adelaide, Australia. Mr. Azhykulov is a former Executive Director of the Kyrgyz Business Council, and currently he is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Business Association JIA (http://www.jia.kg).
