  • Conflict Sensitive Development Training held at the OSCE Academy

    From 4-15 June the two-week long International Certificate Programme in Conflict Sensitive Development was held at the OSCE Academy. This training is part of an annual training programme the Academy, with support from its partner, the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs, has designed for participants from all Central Asian states and Afghanistan.

  • First European Alumni Chapter Meeting held in Vienna

    On 5 June the first European Alumni Chapter Meeting organized by the OSCE Academy and the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek was held at the OSCE Secretariat in Vienna, Austria. The meeting gathered nine alumni residing in Europe for the conference “Brain Drain or Brain Gain? Education, Migration and Development in Central Asia.”

  • Afghan Alumni Chapter meets in Kabul

    On 24 May the first Alumi Chapter meeting was held in Kabul, gathering 16 graduates of both MA Programmes. Academy Professor Dr. Payam Foroughi met graduates to discuss the current regional issues.

  • Swedish Ambassador Camille and Representatives of FOI visit the OSCE Academy

    On 25 May a Swedish Delegation headed by Ambassador Christian Camille visited the OSCE Academy. Ambassador Camille was accompanied by colleagues from the Swedish Defence Research Agency (FOI), namely Jakob Hedenskog, Deputy Research Director at FOI, Dr. Johan Engvall, Analyst at FOI and a Nonresident Senior Fellow of the Central Asia-Caucasus Institute & Silk Road Studies Program, and Erika Holmquist, Researcher at FOI.

  • OSCE Secretary General Thomas Greminger visits the Academy

    On 23 May the OSCE Secretary General Thomas Greminger visited the OSCE Academy as part of his official visit to Kyrgyzstan. The Secretary General was accompanied by the Head of the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek, Ambassador Pierre von Arx, and by Ms. Kristin Höltge from the OSCE Conflict Prevention Centre.

  • “Non-Traditional Risks and Challenges to Central Asian Security”

    On 17-18 May 2018 the OSCE Academy hosted its Conference on “Non-Traditional Risks and Challenges to Central Asian Security.” Thirty-five experts and researchers from Central Asia, Afghanistan and other OSCE participating States discussed non-traditional risks and challenges to the region’s security organised in seven panels.

  • Public lecture on Weaponisation of Information and Cognitive Resilience

    On 16 May the OSCE Academy MA students and alumni had a chance to listen to a public lecture titled “The weaponisation of information and cognitive resilience”, delivered by Dr. Flemming Splidsboel Hansen, a Senior Researcher at the Danish Institute for International Studies.

  • Ms. Pelkonen visited the OSCE Academy

    On 11 May Ms Annika Pelkonen, Special Adviser of the Permanent Delegation of Finland to the OSCE, visited the OSCE Academy for a short exchange with the MA students within the framework of the Energy Politics module, taught by Dr. Indra Overland from the Norwegian Institute of International Relations (NUPI).

  • Policy Paper Writing Seminar

    On 7 May a week-long international training on policy paper writing started at the OSCE Academy. 12 participants from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Mongolia train their skills in writing policy briefs on various regional topics.

  • OSCE Academy builds-up New Cooperation

    On 3 May 2018 the OSCE Academy and PROVIDUS - Centre for Public Policy signed a Memorandum of Partnership and Cooperation aiming at promoting support to educational and professional initiatives.
