    On 25 June thirty two young professionals and students from 29 OSCE participating States met at the fourth workshop within the framework of the nine-month “Perspectives 20-30 Online Academy” which started in March 2021. Participants learned about various types of interview techniques and major differences between them.

  • Students discuss Russian Foreign Policy in Central Asia

    On 25 June the OSCE Academy in Bishkek hosted two online-lectures: ‘Russian foreign policy in Central Asia’ by the Head of the Foreign Policy Group of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Kyrgyz Republic Mr. Artem Romanov and ‘Russian Policy in the Eurasian Space’ by Pierre Chabal, Dr of Science in Political Science, Professor, Le Havre University.

  • Director addresses the OSCE Permanent Council and the Board of Trustees

    On 10 June OSCE Academy Director Dr. Alexander Wolters addressed the OSCE Permanent Council within the Annual Report presentation of the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek delivered by Ambassador Alexey Rogov. Following Ambassador Rogov’s speech, Dr. Wolters presented a summary of the key developments of the OSCE Academy for the period since June 2020 and further elaborated on the plans to expand the programmatic activities in the coming years. On 23 June the Board of Trustees of the Academy met online to listen to the Director's report on the latest developments and to elect a new Chairperson - Ambassador Alexey Rogov, Head of the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek, as well as new members of the Board of Trustees - representing Austria, Germany, Norway, Switzerland and the Geneva Centre for Security Policy.

  • Students discuss the U.S. Cooperation with Central Asia

    On 18 June the OSCE Academy in Bishkek hosted Mr. Kristian G Moore, Political and Economic Affairs Counselor, U.S. Embassy Bishkek for an online lecture, within the framework of the module on Central Asia and the USA, taught by Dr. Shairbek Dzhuraev to students of the MA Programme in Politics & Security.

  • UNHCR Deputy Representative for Central Asia visits the OSCE Academy

    On 15 June the OSCE Academy welcomed Mr. Dumitru Lipcanu, UN Agency for Refugees (UNHCR) Deputy Representative for Central Asia, accompanied by Ms. Olesya Stepanenko, Senior Programme Assistant for an introductory visit. Mr. Lipcanu met the Academy Director Dr. Alexander Wolters and learned about the Academy’s history, its current activities, and plans for development in the near future.

  • Public Lecture ‘Technical Expertise as a Means of Influence in the Politics of Business Taxation Reforms in Kyrgyzstan’

    On 9 June the OSCE Academy hosted the online lecture ‘Technical expertise as a means of influence in the politics of business taxation reforms in Kyrgyzstan’. The Speaker - Ms. Yulia Poskakukhina, former researcher and lecturer in political science at the University of Amsterdam, has shared the conclusions of her research on Foreign aid to institutional reforms and the role of technical expertise as a political resource.

  • OSCE Academy and National Institute for Strategic Studies of the Kyrgyz Republic revive their Collaboration

    On 31 May the Director of the OSCE Academy, Alexander Wolters, and the Director of the National Institute for Strategic Studies (NISS) of the Kyrgyz Republic, Uran Akhmetov, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation and Collaboration to continue their partnership and engage into joint initiatives to support the regional dialogue and joint research activities. Following the signing ceremony, the Director expressed the Academy's interest to collaborate in conducting the professional training, working on joint publications, exchanging experience and knowledge in research methodologies among experts, as well as organizing joint regional security events.

    On 28 May thirty two young professionals and students from 29 OSCE participating States met at the third workshop within the framework of the nine-month “Perspectives 20-30 Online Academy” which started in March 2021. During this workshop participants were trained in policy writing and learned about the decision making process at the OSCE.

  • How to be “Limitless”: Success Story of Daniel Dushmanov

    As a Politics and Security major, Daniel Dushmanov, 2016, has a strong grip on not only political developments in the region, but beyond that. His professional background includes working in Media and Communications, Public Relations, and IT. He is kindly sharing his success story with our Alumni Network. In 2015, when he joined the OSCE Academy he already received 3 diplomas. The studies at the Academy was a timely step to boost his career and academic growth, he confesses, and looking back he is convinced that it was the perfect time and place to be at.

  • 'I wish I’d known this when I was a student': OSCE Academy’s Alumni learn how to pursue a Doctorate Degree

    On 6 May the OSCE Academy (OSCE AiB) held the second workshop within the Alumni Generations Exchange series. This time, four OSCE AiB alumni who are in different stages of pursuing their PhDs talked about their experiences of how to ‘survive and thrive’ the PhD studentship. The event gathered more than 30 alumni and students from across the Central Asian region and other OSCE pS.
