  • Students learn Best Practices in Conducting Competency-based Interviews for International Organizations

    On 4 May the OSCE Department of Human Resources in Vienna, Austria hosted a Virtual Recruitment Bootcamp for students of the OSCE Academy in Bishkek. The e-event was moderated by Gustavo Araujo, Chief of Talent Acquisition at the OSCE in Vienna, Austria and Sakina Saodatkadamova, experienced HR Officer specialized in Talent Acquisition and Talent Management, Tajikistan.

  • Experienced Alumni Share Their Expertise within Alumni Generations Exchange Workshop

    On 29 April 2021, the OSCE Academy in Bishkek (OSCE AiB) had its first virtual workshop organised as part of the Alumni Generations Exchange series titled 'How to pursue a Сareer with International Organizations: Practical Strategies'. The e-event gathered more than 30 alumni and current students from all over Central Asia and beyond. The session featured 4 OSCE AiB accomplished alumni who currently hold positions at various UN bodies in Europe and the OSCE Secretariat in Vienna.

  • Students visit the Russian Embassy in Bishkek

    On 20 April 6 students of the MA Programme in Politics and Security group visited the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Kyrgyz Republic and met with the Head of the Foreign Policy Group Mr. Artem Romanov. During the meeting, they discussed the priorities of the Russian policy in the region; the diplomatic protocol; various transnational threats; cooperation between Russia and Kyrgyzstan within the framework of the CSTO, the Customs Union, and other international organizations.

  • Experts discussed the Impact of COVID -19 on Migration in Kyrgyzstan

    On 14 April the OSCE Academy held an online-event: “The impact of COVID -19 Pandemic on Migration and Migration Governance in Kyrgyzstan.” The event is organized within the framework of the OSCE Academy’s AGRUMIG project (“Leaving something behind” – Migration governance and agricultural and rural change in “home” communities: Comparative experience from Europe, Asia, and Africa), supported by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 programme.

  • OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Ann Linde visits the OSCE Academy

    On 13 April the OSCE Academy was honored to welcome the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Sweden, Ann Linde, who visited the Academy within her official visit to Kyrgyzstan. The OSCE Chairperson-in-Office was accompanied by Ambassador of Sweden to Kazakhstan and the Kyrgyz Republic, Christian Kamill, Head of the Task Force for Swedish Chair of the OSCE, Ambassador Petra Lärke, Head of the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek, Ambassador Pierre von Arx, and Head Central Asia Desk at OSCE Secretariat, Conflict Prevention Centre (CPC), Kristin Höltge.

  • Project Officer of the Conflict Prevention Centre of the OSCE discussed the Cross-Border Travel of Foreign Terrorist Fighters with Students

    On April 2 Ms. Albina Yakubova, Project Officer at the Conflict Prevention Centre of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), e-visited the OSCE Academy in Bishkek to deliver the online lecture on the role of the OSCE’s Transnational Threats Department (TNTD) in addressing cross-border travel of foreign terrorist fighters (FTFs).   • Students of OSCE Academy met British Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan

    On 1 April the OSCE Academy was honoured to welcome British Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan H.E. Charles Garrett, who visited the Academy to deliver a guest lecture to our MA students. The theme of the lecture was the Integrated Review of the UK Foreign Policy, published on 16 March 2021.

  • UNICRI Expert presented the Global Perspective on the AI enabled Crime and Crime Prevention

    On 26 March Mr. Irakli Beridze, Head of the Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI), e-visited the OSCE Academy in Bishkek to address the use of AI to ensure law and order. He delivered the online lecture on Global Perspective on the AI enabled Crime and Crime Prevention. This lecture was a part of the course ‘Contemporary Security Issues’ taught by Dr. Elena Zhirukhina within MA Programme in Politics and Security.

  • The “Perspectives 20-30 Online Academy” launches: the OSCE amplifies Youth Voices for a Safer Future

    On 26 March thirty two young professionals and students from 29 OSCE participating States began the nine-month “Perspectives 20-30 Online Academy”. The Office of the OSCE Secretary General, in partnership with the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, the OSCE Academy in Bishkek, and the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Regional Office for Cooperation and Peace in Europe strongly supports this initiative.

  • Students discuss Cultural Matters in Radical Movements with Dr. Chiara Pierobon

    On 18 March the OSCE Academy in Bishkek hosted the online lecture “Music, Identity and Cognitive Praxis in Radical Movements: Why Culture Matters” delivered by Dr. Chiara Pierobon, Postdoctoral Researcher at Bielefeld University (Germany) and Associate Research Fellow at the OSCE Academy. This lecture was held within the Political Violence and Terrorism module taught by Dr. Daniella Irrera from the University of Catania.
