Comment of Aziz Berdickulov (student of the Master Programme "Politics and Security")
We wanted to visit orphanage right before the New Year, but most of our classmates went home for holidays, and our idea just remained an idea. Finally, on 2nd of February we decided to visit psycho-neurological orphanage in Belovodskoe village that was suggested by our course mate. It was really controversial for me to decide to go with our group because it was the first time when I was going to see orphans. I didn't know what to expect. When we got to orphanage it turned out that it's not so easy to keep smiling while you look at those children. Don't get me wrong, this is not about the conditions - rooms were clean and warm, children were smiling, singing along with us and drawing - diseases has nothing to deal with the real childhood. But the fact that more than 260 kids don't know what is to be close to the mom's chest or what is family breakfasts made me really fragile in terms of controlling feelings and stay joyful. What I had realized is that those kids do not need you to feel sorry for them, what they want essentially is the communication and simple contact. The main thing I have learned is that you should understand that someone needs you even though you may not realize this yet. It is important to take your time, to give up your weekend and try to share your time with a couple of kids playing on guitar or drawing a flower.
