In this issue, we present five analytical papers that look into the growing role and significance of China in Central Asia and its grandiose Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). While the study of China’s BRI has gained a lot of attention in the scholarly community in different parts of the world, research on the role and potential impact of the BRI on the Central Asian region still remains scarce.
