75th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in Central Asia
Symposium & Opening Ceremony
Date: 29 September 2023
Format: Hybrid
The OSCE Academy in Bishkek together with the Global Campus for Human Rights in Venice celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration for Human Rights (UDHR) at the Academy"s opening ceremony for the regional Master Programme in Liberal Arts in Human Rights and Sustainability (MAHRS) in Central Asia on 29th September 2023.
For 75 years, the UDHR has inspired billions of people worldwide to strive for equality, fundamental freedoms and justice. It has been a blueprint for international, national, and local laws in Central Asian countries since independence in 1991. The UDHR also lays in the foundation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (SDGs).
During the symposium and opening ceremony of MAHRS our international guests from UN, OSCE, EU, academia and civil society will be debating and discussing the global and regional impact of UDHR in Central Asia, the achievements and shortcoming but also the pathways for societies and institutions in the region to realize and implement international human rights norms and means for sustainable development and growth.
