Description
Climate change presents a grave threat to the delicate balance of our planet and the future of humanity. Its cascading consequences, including biodiversity loss, extreme weather events, and food insecurity, directly impede the achievement of the sustainable development goals (SDGs). There are various socioeconomic factors that affect the environmental performance. This study investigated the relationship between income disparity, urbanization, resource consumption, female employers, and ecological footprint in emerging economies and address the following research questions: (i) What is the relationship between income disparity and environmental degradation? (ii) How does rapid urbanization influence energy consumption patterns and environmental quality? and (iii) What is the link between female employers' rates and environmental outcomes? Based on the findings, the study proposes policy recommendations and practical takeaways to tackle environmental degradation challenges in emerging economies and contribute to the United Nations SDGs.
