On 23 May 2024, Dr. Kate Walker, the OSCE Academy Director, addressed the OSCE Permanent Council in Vienna within the Annual Report presentation by H.E. Ambassador Alexey Rogov, Head of the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek and Chairperson of the OSCE Academy Board of Trustees. Dr. Walker presented the summary of the annual activities of the OSCE Academy for the period since the last address of Dr. I. Satarkulova in May 2023, the-then Acting Director of the OSCE Academy.
During her presentation, Dr. Walker highlighted the Academy's regional approach in selecting its student body and emphasized its role as a regional institution and a bridge-builder. Her address emphasized the Academy's importance in enhancing regional cooperation and development through offering higher education, professional training and intellectual exchange. She outlined key developments and during the past year and shared plans for near future.
Dr. Walker expressed deep appreciation to donors for the provided generous contributions. Dr. Kate Walker acknowledged the continued support the Academy receives from the OSCE Secretariat, the Central Asian Desk of the Conflict Prevention Centre, and the OSCE institutions and the executive structures.
The representatives of the Delegations of the EU, Russian Federation, the United States, Türkiye, Switzerland, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Norway, the United Kingdom, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan acknowledged the Academy's pivotal role and expressed continued support for its initiatives.
