On 2 December, Ms Niva Yau Tsz Yan, Junior Research Scholar at the OSCE Academy delivered a Public Lecture on "Operation Reality of the Belt and Road Initiative in Central Asia." During the lecture, Ms. Yau provided data on BRI policy and BRI projects implementation in Central Asian states from China’s perspective shown through governmental documents. She reviewed bilateral and multilateral projects in the region within the framework of five goals: Policy Co-ordination, Connectivity, Trade Facilitation, Financial Integration and “People to people bonds,” proposed in the BRI guidelines released by the Chinese government in 2015. Thus, Ms. Yau gave a big picture of the Initiative that concerns not only infrastructure strategies but includes projects intended to build political friendship, as well as to develop cultural and educational exchanges between Central Asian states and China.
