The OSCE Academy in Bishkek is a public foundation, created in 2002 between the Kyrgyz Government and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). The OSCE Academy promotes the principles and values of the OSCE through post-graduate education, advanced research, professional trainings and intellectual exchange. Its highly demanding MA programmes in the fields of “Economic Governance and Development” and “Politics and Security (Central Asia)” enrol a total of up to 60 young professionals on a competitive basis per year, from Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
The OSCE Academy in Bishkek is looking for a Lecturer for the course “History of Political Thoughts” in its MA Programme in Politics & Security.
FALL SEMESTER: September – December, 2021
History of Political Thoughts, 4 credits
The course ‘History of Political Thought’ is a required course of the MA Politics and Security programme. It is meant to be a survey course of the discipline of political theory and, typically, presents the history of political ideas and related philosophical concepts. In this surveying exercise it is important to relate concepts and ideas of political order, of state and state & society, of the individual and the political, of government and political conflict and of political progress to the context of political developments in the wider region of Central Asia. The objective of the course is to provide students of the MA programme in Politics and Security with an understanding of major guiding concepts and theories about the ‘political’ and how they inform our attempts to study political processes and developments in the region. The goal is to help students of the programme to make use of such concepts and ideas to search for and identify problems for further inquiry and research.

NOTE: The Academy will not cover transport, accommodation, health insurance and expenses of family members. The Academy, however, assists with all issues related to travelling to Bishkek, including non-financial visa and work permit support, and finding housing in the city.
