Research topic: The Impact of Job-Education Mismatch on the Earnings: Empirical Evidence from Generation and Gender Difference
Dr. Burulcha Sulaimanova is an Assistant Professor at Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University (Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan). She specializes in the fields of labor economics and applied economic analysis in Central Asian countries. In particular, her research interests include education-job mismatch issues in Kyrgyzstan labor market, gender aspects of labor migration, infrastructure development, and its impact on Central Asian economies. She has been engaged in various types of projects as a researcher, project leader, and consultant. One of her recent projects has been on “The impact of infrastructure on trade in Central Asia”, which was supported by the Asian Development Bank Institute. Dr. Sulaimanova holds a Ph.D. and MSc degree in Economics from the Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Anadolu University, Turkey.
Dr. Rahat Sabyrbekov (In Partnership with NUPI)
Dr. Rahat Sabyrbekov received his PhD from School of Economics and Business at Norwegian University of Life Sciences. He obtained his Master's degree from University of Birmingham, the United Kingdom. Rahat serves as an author for Intergovernmental Platform for Ecosystem Services and Biodiversity Assessment Report. Rahat’s research interests include environmental economics, ecosystem services, natural capital, and natural resource management.

Dr. Aijan Sharshenova (In Partnership with Volkswagen Foundation)
Research Topic: Russia’s Public Diplomacy in Kyrgyzstan: A Study of Russian Influence in Central Asia
Dr. Aijan Sharshenova is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the OSCE Academy in Bishkek. Dr. Sharshenova holds a PhD in Politics awarded at the University of Leeds, UK. Prior to joining the OSCE Academy, Dr. Sharshenova has worked at the UN and UNDP country offices in the Middle East, and taught courses in International Politics and Academic Writing. Dr. Sharshenova’s research interests include public diplomacy, the EU and Russian policies towards Central Asia, and international development. Recently, Dr. Sharshenova published her book ‘The European Union’s Democracy Promotion in Central Asia’ available on Amazon.

Shairbek Dzhuraev (In Partnership with Volkswagen Foundation)
Research Topic: Politics of Foreign Policy Change in Georgia and Kyrgyzstan
Shairbek Dzhuraev received his PhD in the School of International Relations at the University of St Andrews. He previously served as Deputy Director at OSCE Academy in Bishkek and as a Dean of Academic Development at American University of Central Asia. Shairbek taught courses in Central Asian politics, Foreign Policy Analysis and International Relations at various times at American University of Central Asia, OSCE Academy in Bishkek and European University at St Petersburg. His research interests include a wide range of political and policy issues in Central Asia, with particular focus on foreign policy, political institutions and regime dynamics in the region. Shairbek holds MSc in International Relations from London School of Economics (2005).
