Fellowship Programmes

The OSCE Academy in Bishkek is a public foundation, established in 2002 between the Kyrgyz Government and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). The OSCE Academy promotes principles and values of the OSCE through post-graduate education, professional trainings and intellectual exchange. Moreover, the Academy hosts Research Fellowships, publishes articles, policy briefs, and research papers on questions relevant to the Academy’s mission, and seeks continuously to strengthen its research capacity.

Associate Research Fellowship (ARF) was launched in 2017 and aims to support PhD Candidates and/or Post-Doctoral researchers in conducting their research projects and provide institutional affiliation to independent researchers. The Associate Research Fellowship is unpaid. The length of the fellowship is from six to twelve months and is open for Bishkek-based and non-Bishkek residents. The applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

Postdoctoral Fellowship aims to help increase the research capacity and research output of the OSCE Academy. To this end the Scholarship holder is asked to propose a topic in line with the overall mission in academia and education that guide the Academy’s various activities. It is furthermore desired that the Scholarship holder takes active part in ongoing projects and contributes to events at the Academy if they fall in line with the Scholarship holder’s area of expertise.

Research Fellowship is a short term paid fellowship that aims to offer young researchers the possibility to carry out research for up to seven months in a variety of disciplines related to the OSCE Academy's scope of work. There are no available fellowships for 2023.
