Survey Data Policy

Survey Data Policy

Data protection declaration for the "Central Asia Forecasting" research project.

Participation in the research project is voluntary.

Non-participation has no consequences.

“Central Asia Forecasting” is a research project conducted jointly by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, the OSCE Academy in Bishkek, and the SPCE Hub. The purpose of this project is to survey experts, practitioners, and interested stakeholders on upcoming trends in Central Asia and Central Asia’s expectations from Europe. The results of this survey will be used to publish a report that will be presented to the interested public through several online, offline, or hybrid events in Central Asia and
Europe in fall 2021.

If you have any questions about the forecasting study, please, contact us at ca-forecasting@osce-academy.net.

You are invited to participate in this research project

- because you were selected by one of the project’s implementing organizations in your capacity as an expert on Central Asia;

- or because you were nominated by one of the respondents as a stakeholder interested in Central Asian development.

The survey should take approximately 15 minutes to complete. Your responses will be confidential. We and our data processing service provider do not collect any identifying information such as your name, email address, IP address, or timestamp in the course of this survey. To help protect your anonymity, please do not enter any names or personal information in free text entry sections. The survey uses identifying tokens. The tokens will not be stored together with the responses. They will be kept in a separate database and will only be updated to indicate whether the survey has been completed or not. There is no way of matching identification tokens with survey responses.

At the end of the 1 st survey, participants will be invited to share it with up to 2 people from the interested public. The nomination of up to two people from the broader public will help us to collect better results. The participants will be invited to nominate people from their network not involved in the academic research on the region, but who are stakeholders connected to it – policymakers, NGO workers, journalists, investors, industry professionals, etc. The people nominated will receive an email with a unique link to the questionnaire. We will not store these e-mail addresses, nor link the personal information with the survey data. It is voluntary to invite people to participate. If participants decide not to do that, it will have no consequences.
