SUMMARY:Online Nihilistic Violence and Hybrid Radicalisation: Grievance\, Online Spaces and Pathways to Violence
DESCRIPTION:Date: 7 October\, 2026 \nTime: 15:00 – 16:00 (Bishkek time) \nResearcher: Przemyslaw Ozierski\, Associate Researcher at the OSCE Academy in Bishkek \nLanguage: English \nFormat: offline \nAddress: OSCE Academy in Bishkek\, Botanichesky pereulok 1 A\, Library (1st floor) \nRegistration form: here \n  \nDescription\nThe seminar examines emerging forms of online nihilistic violence and their relationship to hybrid radicalisation. It explores how individuals and online communities combine elements from different subcultures\, narratives and ideological repertoires\, including nihilism\, misogyny\, grievance\, conspiracy narratives and the glorification of violence. \nDrawing on recent cases\, the presentation examines how radicalisation can develop through decentralised and non-linear pathways that cross conventional ideological boundaries. It focuses on the interaction between online subcultures\, identity and grievance\, dehumanising and nihilistic narratives\, and the circulation and normalisation of violent content across online and offline environments\, including processes of imitation and reproduction of violent models. \nThe discussion considers what these emerging patterns mean for understanding radicalisation and violent extremism\, with particular attention to their relevance for Central Asia. \n  \nAgenda\n \n15:00-15:05 Words of Welcome by Dr. Pal Dunay\, Director of the OSCE Academy in Bishkek \n15:05-15:35 Presentation by Przemyslaw Ozierski \n15:35 – 15:55 Q&A Session and Discussion \n15:55 – 16:00 Closing \n  \nBIO \nPrzemyslaw Ozierski is a senior researcher on governance and security in Central Asia. He is an Associate Researcher at the OSCE Academy in Bishkek for the period January–December 2026 and is affiliated with the Central Asia Strategic Center for Analysis\, Dialogue and Development (CASCADD). SUMMARY:Seminar on Addressing Trafficking in Human Beings and Labour Exploitation in Supply Chains
DESCRIPTION:REGISTRATION: https://forms.gle/iT7UCxTti91YUZuU8 \nIn collaboration with: \nThe Office of the Special Representative and Co-Ordinator for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings/Supply Chains Project of the OSCE Secretariat and \nGlobal Campus Central Asia’ OSCE Academy’s Master in Human Rights and Sustainability in Central Asia (MAHRS) \nDRAFT AGENDA \nTrafficking in human beings (THB) remains a serious human rights violation and a persistent challenge across the OSCE area and globally. Trafficking for the purpose of labour exploitation and forced labour are among the most prevalent yet often under-identified forms of exploitation. The issue is therefore not only a criminal justice concern\, but also a labour rights\, governance\, business conduct and sustainability challenge. \nThe OSCE has long recognized trafficking in human beings as a multidimensional security issue and human rights concern\, requiring prevention\, victim protection and access to remedy\, alongside effective law enforcement and cross-sector co-operation. Through its Supply Chains Project\, the OSCE Office of the Special Representative and Co-ordinator for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings supports participating States\, international organizations and the private sector in strengthening efforts to prevent trafficking for labour exploitation in supply chains\, including through due diligence\, ethical recruitment\, public procurement and responsible business practices. \nThe 1.5-day seminar will bring together students and alumni of the OSCE Academy’s Master in Human Rights and Sustainability in Central Asia (MAHRS) with experts from academia\, the OSCE Secretariat\, civil society\, international organizations and other relevant stakeholders. The seminar will provide a space for critical learning\, exchange and practical reflection on trafficking in human beings\, with a particular focus on labour exploitation and forced labour\, while also situating the discussion within broader debates on business and human rights\, sustainability\, and emerging due diligence frameworks. \nThe seminar will also help bridge academic analysis and policy practice by exposing participants to current anti-trafficking frameworks\, regional and global trends\, and concrete prevention tools relevant to Central Asia and the wider OSCE region.
