From 13 to 19 November the OSCE Academy conducted its annual International Certificate Training Programme in Conflict Sensitive Development. This training is designed for junior and mid-level professionals from civil society, NGOs, international development agencies, and governmental organizations from Central Asia, Afghanistan, Mongolia, and the OSCE region and government. During this week 15 participants learned the fundamentals for implementing development projects based on a conflict-sensitive approach, particularly relevant for countries and territories in the context of ongoing or recent political, military, or ethnic conflict. They acquired basic concepts of practical conflict analysis and conflict resolution tools, as well as the implementation of a Do No Harm approach to conflict-sensitive development. On the final day of the training, participants reviewed and summarized the knowledge obtained during the week and received their certificates. The training was led by Dr. Augustine Nicolescou, Herbert C. Kelman Institute for Interactive Conflict Transformation / Austrian Study Centre for Peace and Conflict Resolution.
