On 5 June the first European Alumni Chapter Meeting organized by the OSCE Academy and the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek was held at the OSCE Secretariat in Vienna, Austria. The meeting gathered nine alumni residing in Europe for the conference “Brain Drain or Brain Gain? Education, Migration and Development in Central Asia.”
On 24 May the first Alumi Chapter meeting was held in Kabul, gathering 16 graduates of both MA Programmes. Academy Professor Dr. Payam Foroughi met graduates to discuss the current regional issues.
On 30 April the OSCE Academy alumni in Tajikistan met for the annual Chapter Meeting. This year Dr. Christian Bleuer met graduates in Dushanbe and presented the topic: "Central Asia's Role in the International Security System."
On 15-16 February the OSCE Academy organized a workshop dedicated to “Gender Issues in Central Asia” for its alumni and external guests. The two-day workshop gathered about 40 participants who aimed at identifying contemporary problems related to gender issues in politics and security, in the economic sphere and in the social and legal fields in the region.
On 29 January two alumni of the MA in Programmes, started their internships at the Institute of Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan under the OSCE Academy’s Junior Public Officers’ Programme
In January two alumni of the MA in Economic Governance and Development Programme, started their internships at the Agency for Investment Promotion and Protection of the Kyrgyz Republic under the OSCE Academy’s Junior Public Officers’ Programme.
On 18-19 November the OSCE Academy has conducted the 5th Alumni Conference on Comprehensive Security and Sustainable Development in Bishkek. Around forty alumni and students from Central Asia, Afghanistan and OSCE region participated in the event.
In mid-February Alan Mamatov, graduate of 2016, started his internship at the State Agency for Investment and Export Promotion under the Ministry of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic under the OSCE Academy’s Junior Public Officers’ Programme.
On January 17, 2017, the OSCE Academy in Bishkek and the Brussels Journal of International Studies (University of Kent) signed the Memorandum of Cooperation establishing partnership between organizations.
