This database aims to provide an overview of the 500 most prominent people in Central Asia. The database is based on data collected between January and July 2011 by individual researchers in each of the five countries. Information has been collected about elites within different fields such as politics, business, civil society and culture from a wide range of sources. There was considerable variation in data availability and quality across the countries.
The database is produced by the Central Asia Data-Gathering and Analysis Team, the project supported by the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs.
The project aims to update the information available in the database on a yearly basis. If anyone has comments, suggestions or information for the database, please send them to: firstname.lastname@example.org
