OSCE PA Special Representative's on Central Asia Engagement visit to the Academy

On 22 April 2022, the OSCE Academy was honored to welcome Pia Kauma, Vice-President of the Assembly at the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly (PA), Special Representative on Central Asia Engagement for an introductory visit and a meeting with MA students. Ms. Kauma was accompanied by Farimah Daftary, Senior Advisor, and Manuchekhr Salokhudinov, Programme Officer. During the visit Ms. Kauma met Dr. Alexander Wolters, Director of the OSCE Academy, and learned about the Academy’s main activities as well as plans to expand further. Following the formal part, Ms. Kauma met the MA students and delivered a talk about her professional background, as a Member of Finnish Parliament and in current capacities at the OSCE PA; the role of women in the Finnish government; and the work of the OSCE PA. Students were eager to listen and learn more about the positive example of gender equality in politics and using the opportunity also asked their questions about the election observation missions, challenges the region and Kyrgyzstan in particular face, and the role of the OSCE in the Ukrainian conflict.
