On 5 August 2024 the OSCE Academy started its four-week preparatory Summer School Programme for students from five Central Asian states, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Denmark, Mongolia, and Russia. During the opening ceremony, Dr. Pal Dunay, Interim Director of the OSCE Academy, Mr. Colin McCullough, Senior Planning and Co-ordination Officer, OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek, and Dr. Indira Satarkulova, Deputy Director of the OSCE Academy, welcomed the participants and shortly introduced the OSCE Academy and the upcoming School. Following the welcome remarks, OSCE Academy Professors, Dr. Emil Dzhuraev and Dr. Burulcha Sulaimanova, greeted the participants and shared their experience teaching at the Academy.
This year, out of 68 participants, some will benefit from in-depth knowledge about social research skills, others will learn about differential calculus, gaining preparation for any future engagement in the aforementioned disciplines. In addition, all participants will undergo training in academic writing (in English), thus developing the necessary skill-set to enter into one of the Academy’s programmes or any other international graduate course. In particular this Summer School is designed to equip participants with knowledge and skills in the following courses (in one of the offered blocks) Mathematics for Economists and Academic writing, and Introduction to Research Methods in Social Sciences and Academic Writing.
In addition to newly accepted Master students to the Politics & Security and Economic Governance & Development Programmes, the School is also attended by interested young graduates in related disciplines.
