On 5-6 September 2024 six OSCE Academy BA students in Economics participated in the Central Asian and Afghan Regional Conference of Youth and Children on Climate Change (RCOY 2024) in Bishkek Kyrgyzstan. The conference focused on empowering youth and children from the region to lead climate action through education, collaboration, and innovation, emphasizing the critical role of young people in addressing water and climate challenges while fostering unity and resilience. The Academy students took active part in this event representing various countries and cultures. “Over the past two days we discussed climate change and natural disasters. As young activists we could propose meaningful solutions to address climate change issues. One of the most exciting aspects of the conference was the beautiful diversity of Central Asia and Afghanistan. I hope our voices will be heard and bring significant changes in the world”, shared Somaye Sadat from Afghanistan.
The event brought together over 200 participants, including high-ranking officials, international partners, and youth representatives, to discuss the pressing climate challenges affecting the region. Organized by the Ministry of Natural Resources of Kyrgyzstan, in partnership with UNICEF and UNDP, the event highlights the crucial role of youth in building a sustainable future.
