On 5-6 September 2024, Dr. Burulcha Sulaimanova, Senior Lecturer at the OSCE Academy, presented at the Regional Conference of Youth in Central Asia 2024, which was held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The event was organized by the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Public Fund “UNISON”. During her presentation, Dr. Sulaimanova shared insights on how climate change is impacting children and youth in Central Asia, with a particular focus on its effects on girls. She emphasized the critical lack of data and analysis on this issue in the region, despite the Children’s Climate Risk Index highlighting extremely high risks for the region's children and youth.
The event brought together over 200 participants, including high-ranking officials, international partners, and youth representatives, to discuss the pressing climate challenges affecting the region. Organized by the Ministry of Natural Resources of Kyrgyzstan, in partnership with UNICEF and UNDP, the event highlights the crucial role of youth in building a sustainable future.
