BA Students Learn about the Economic Prospects and Security Issues of the Digitalization in Kyrgyzstan

On 15 October 2024, BA Economics sophomores and juniors attended an expert talk at the OSCE Academy as part of the Global and National Economy course on the topic "Digitalization in Kyrgyzstan: Economic Prospects and Security Issues.” The event featured regional experts in the digitalization field: Dr. Nuriia Kutnaeva, Minister of Digital Development of Kyrgyzstan, who is also an OSCE Academy Alumna of 2005 and Alumna of the Year 2023 and Dr. Zhyldyz Tegizbekova, Professor of Law and Head of the Law Department at Alatoo International University. Minister Kutnaeva provided an insightful overview of the ongoing digitalization process in Kyrgyzstan, highlighting its role in modernizing key sectors and driving economic growth. Dr. Tegizbekova addressed the complex challenges of personal data protection, emphasizing the need for stronger legal frameworks to safeguard citizens' privacy amid the growing reliance on digital platforms. The event was concluded with presentations from BA students, who explored the economic effects of digitalization in various industries regarding Kyrgyzstan's digital future but also underlined the necessity for sustainable policies to address potential risks.
