Guest Lecture from the Global Digital Inclusion Partnership Representative

On 4 March 2025, students from the Economic Governance and Development (EGD) Programme participated in a guest lecture by Mr. Talant Sultanov, Policy Advocacy Advisor at the Global Digital Inclusion Partnership (GDIP) and Co-Founder of the Internet Society Kyrgyz Chapter. The lecture, titled "Closing the Digital Divide: Internet Governance and Meaningful Connectivity in Central Asia," delved into the challenges and strategies associated with bridging the digital divide in this region.

Mr. Sultanov highlighted the specific obstacles faced by Central Asia, including climate threats, connectivity issues, and geopolitical barriers. He emphasized that efforts to close this gap involve developing infrastructure, creating localized content, and implementing digital literacy programmes, all designed to enhance digital inclusion and resilience across the region.

This guest lecture is part of the course Good Governance in Central Asia, taught by Dr. Aibek Ashirov, a visiting lecturer for the EGD Programme.
