On 24 April 2025, H.E. Jaap Ora, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Estonia to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, visited the OSCE Academy alongside Ms. Triinu Pits, Deputy Head of Mission at the Estonian Embassy. The meeting was attended by Dr. Pal Dunay, the Director of the OSCE Academy, Mr. Colin McCullough, Senior Planning and Coordination Officer at the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek, Dr. Emil Juraev, Senior Lecturer at the OSCE Academy, Dr. Sebastian Mayer, DAAD Associate Professor, Ms. Cholpon Osmonalieva, Head of the Education Department, Ms. Victoria Orazova, Head of the International Office, and several students of the MA and BA Programmes. To begin with, Dr. Dunay provided an overview of the Academy’s history and its role as a platform for research and dialogue in Central Asia and beyond. In his address, Ambassador Ora has briefly presented a history of Estonia and shared insights on Estonia's approach to establishing diplomatic relationships with Central Asian states. He has also highlighted the areas of cooperation that Estonia has prioritized. Following the presentation, participants of the meeting engaged in a lively discussion on numerous issues. It extended to the extremely successful transformation of Estonia and the underlying conditions of the great achievements, the international political rearrangements in Central Asia since the beginning of the high-intensity Russia–Ukraine war and foreign policy changes in Central Asia in light of current developments.
