Norwegian Ambassador to Central Asia Visits OSCE Academy

On 26 May 2025, H.E. Dr. John Mikal Kvistad, Ambassador to Central Asia at the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, paid a visit to the OSCE Academy, accompanied by Ms. Marte Lauvhjell, Senior Adviser of the Section for Disarmament and Non-Proliferation at the same Ministry. The guests were welcomed by Dr. Pal Dunay, Director of the OSCE Academy, Dr. Shairbek Dzhuraev, Deputy Director of the OSCE Academy, and Ms. Victoria Orazova, Head of International Department at the OSCE Academy. Mr. Colin McCullough, Senior Planning and Co-ordination Officer of the OSCE Programme Office also attended. During the meeting, the role of the Academy as a research institution in the Central Asian region and beyond was discussed. The support to the Academy’s alumni community and its potential was also addressed. The exchanges extended to the way Norway contributes to these activities through the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI). The Norwegian visitors were interested in learning about the needs of the Academy for a new location, the coming visits from the Norwegian OSCE Delegation, and from the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD) and areas of possible future cooperation.
