Academy Management Presents at the Biannual Board of Trustees Meeting

On 22 July Director Dr. Alexander Wolters delivered a presentation to the Board of Trustees (BoT) at the biannual meeting that was held in the online format due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The meeting was opened by Ambassador Dr. Pierre von Arx, Head of the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek, who presided over the meeting in his capacity of the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees. Representatives of the Albanian Chairmanship, Austria, the European Union, Finland, Kyrgyzstan, Norway, Slovakia, Switzerland, the United States, as well the Geneva Centre for Security Policy, Norwegian Institute of International Affairs, OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, and the OSCE Secretariat participated in the meeting.

Following the introductory remarks by Ambassador von Arx, Dr. Wolters presented the latest updates and developments in the Academy’s activities. One of the primary issues was the Academy’s response to COVID-19 crisis. Dr. Wolters touched upon all spheres of the Academy’s work that were affected by the crises, including the MA studies, Admission, Student Internships, and Alumni events, and reported on the measures taken by the Academy to ensure the timely continuation of all activities.

Further, Dr. Wolters talked about the research and dialogue initiatives, such as the establishment of  full-time Postdoc positions, Research Fellowships, joint and individual Research Grant applications, and new series of publications at the Academy. The participants of the Board of Trustees meeting were also informed about newly established partnerships and the implementation of first students’ mobilities via Erasmus+ and corresponding bilateral agreements. The reporting was concluded with the presentation of budget projections for 2020 and 2021.
