Professor Anja Mihr speaks at the EU High-Level Conference on the Global State of Human Rights

On 16 July Dr. Anja Mihr, DAAD Associate Professor at the OSCE Academy, participated in the Human Rights Conference, organized by the European Parliament and the Global Campus of Human Rights in Venice, Italy.

Together with other human rights and legal experts from across the world, Prof. Mihr spoke at the panel  “A Pandemic of Impunity: Why Does Accountability Matter?”  that highlighted the evolving international justice landscape and mapped potential pathways to overcome the growing challenges to accountability and responding to the needs of human rights defenders. Prof. Mihr focused her talk on the situation of 'Human Rights in Central Asia' and the dramatic shifts over the past years.

The conference brought together MEPs, European Commissioners, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Nobel Peace Prize recipients, Sakharov Prize laureates, and other representatives of international organizations, academia, and NGOs such as Amnesty International.
