Academy Lecturer Dr. Jenish presents at “Global and Contemporary Trends in Social Science” Conference
On 6-8 November 2018, Dr. Nazgul Jenish, Senior Lecturer at the OSCE Academy, participated in the Conference “Global and Contemporary Trends in Social Science”, Barcelona. The objective of the conference was to bring together social scientists from all around the world in order to share and disseminate state-of-art research on critical socio-economic issues, ranging from financial management, poverty, migration to environmental protection, urbanization and technology diffusion.

UNAMA Representatives Deliver a Lecture on Latest Developments in Afghanistan
On 15 November Mr. Scott Smith, Political Affairs Department Director and Mr. Maciej Dachowski, Political Officer for Regional Affairs of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) paid their second visit this year to the OSCE Academy to deliver a lecture to the new group of MA students and to discuss possibilities for internships for Afghan alumni within the UN Volunteers programme in Afghanistan.

“OSCE in Central Asia: National Perceptions”
On 3 November the OSCE Academy in Bishkek hosted the “OSCE in Central Asia: National Perceptions” workshop. This workshop is part of a Project “The OSCE in Central Asia: National Narratives” coordinated by Dr. Irina Chernyh from the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies and run by the OSCE Network of Think Tanks and Academic Institutions.

Policy Paper on “Central Asia without the West?”
On 21 October the policy paper ‘Central Asia without the West’ was published, a result of a brainstorming workshop and simulation exercise that took place at the OSCE Academy in Bishkek in late August. This three-day workshop, titled “New Security Challenges in Central Asia”, was organized by the Near East South Asia Center for Strategic Studies (NESA) and the OSCE Academy within the framework of their long-time partnership and as a part of NESA’s annual Central Asia Working Group meeting.

German Bundestag and ODIHR at OSCE Academy
On 5 October the OSCE Academy hosted a number of high-level visits, welcoming on its premises representatives of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) from Warsaw as well as members of the Bundestag, the German Parliament, accompanied by the German Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan.
