Academy's Visiting Professor delivers a Lecture at the University of Texas

On 1 March 2022, Dr. Anja Mihr, DAAD Associate Professor at the OSCE Academy, gave an online guest lecture on "30 years independence from the Soviet Union: Central Asia at the Crossroad between Democracy and Autocracy" at the University of Texas, Austin. Dr. Anja Mihr provided an overview of democratic transitions and transformation processes in Central Asian countries since 1991. Dr. Mihr elaborated on the new role the Central Asian countries play in the New Cold War between democratic and autocratic regimes, whilst being considered the hub of connectivity between the East and the West in the 21st century. At the end of the lecture, students of the Department of German Studies had an opportunity to ask questions they were interested in.
