From 8 till 12 April 2024, the OSCE Academy representatives participated in a first in-person meeting of Central Asia: Governance, History, Anthropology & Neighborhoods (CAGHAN) team. Dr. Indira Satarkulova, Deputy Director, and Cholpon Osmonalieva, Head of Education Department, joined the CAGHAN Coordinator Dr. Jeroen Van den Bosch and representatives of other Hosting Partner Universities - Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan, Humboldt University in Germany, and International University of Kyrgyzstan, as well as the representatives of other Supporting Partners for an Erasmus Mundus Design Measures project kick-off meeting.
During the meeting, under coordination of Dr. Van den Bosch, Partners, have discussed the steps required to launch the program, starting from recruitment and admission criteria and scholarship assignment, to syllabi development and evaluation methods. By the end of the week, as a result of numerous fruitful discussions Partners agreed on follow-up actions by each side, to move forward to further successful implementation of the Project.
CAGHAN – is a planned Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters on Central (Eur)Asian Studies. A 2-year Master program (Area Studies) aimed at providing in-depth knowledge and skills to future specialists on this “region” (both in its narrow and broader understanding). Beside instruction on three of the region’s titular languages (but also offering Russian), courses are to be drawn from a multidisciplinary program, encompassing History, Political Science, as well as Sociology and Anthropology, supported by their relevant methodologies.
