Students meet Experts to learn more on International Relations

In November students of MA Programme in olitis and Security had an opportunity to meet several experts and discuss the current security issues in the region and beyond within the framework of the course ‘International Relations’ taught by Dr. Elena Zhirukhina.

On 1 November Ms. Cholpon Orozobekova, Director of the Bulan Institute for Peace Innovations based in Geneva presented to students ‘State Policies Toward ISIS Fighters and Their Associates: Repatriation and Rehabilitation in Central Asia’.

On 3 November Mr. Andrew Matwick, a Canada-based international consultant to the United Nations Office of Counter Terrorism (UNOCT) Special Projects and Innovation Branch (SPIB) delivered an online lecture ‘From Intelligence Operations to International Organizations: Nurturing Relationships that Enable Global Security Cooperation.’

On 15 November Dr. Alasdair Gordon-Gibson, who has worked for over twenty years with the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement planning and managing humanitarian programmes in emergency relief and economic security presented on the topic of ‘Humanitarian Diplomacy: complicity or compromise?'.

On 17 November Dr. Neil Melvin, Director International Security Studies at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) discussed with students ‘The UK as a security actor post-Brexit - Global Britain agenda.’
