The OSCE Academy in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, invites applications from highly qualified scholars for its Visiting Teaching Fellowship positions.

The Public Foundation “OSCE Academy in Bishkek” was founded in 2002 as a result of partnership between the Kyrgyz Government and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). The OSCE Academy promotes values and principles of the OSCE through research, education, professional trainings, and intellectual exchange. Professional and dynamic team, the provision of opportunities for the acquisition and development of qualifications in an educational institution with an international level of work and teaching are the advantages of working at the OSCE Academy in Bishkek.

The Visiting Teaching Fellow will contribute to teaching in the МА programme throughout the Fall 2024 semester by developing course syllabi, lecturing, grading and advising students on academic aspects of the courses. Available courses are:

Macroeconomics, 4 credits
The course is aimed at providing students with the tools of modern macroeconomic theory. Models are developed to explain how output, unemployment and inflation are determined. These models then are used to analyze monetary and fiscal policies.

Microeconomics, 4 credits
The objective of this course is to equip students with fundamental concepts and methods of modern economic theory focusing on rational behavior of consumers and producers. Using rigorous mathematical methods, the course derives demand and supply functions under different market structures, e.g. perfect competition, monopolistic competition, oligopoly and monopoly, from the optimization behavior of economic agents, and examines various determinants of the demand and supply functions.

Job Description:
The Visiting teaching fellows are expected to:
- timely prepare course materials,
- conduct the assigned course on time and in accordance with applicable rules and regulations,
- evaluate МA students’ academic performance,
- keep records of МA student attendance and academic performance,
- provide required reports to the Head of Educational Department;
- participate in and/or organize students’ related events;
- prepare necessary reports for the management;
- be responsible for course related paperwork;
- perform other position related duties as assigned by the management.   

Essential knowledge, skills and experience required for the positions:
• PhD degree in Economics, Finance or a related field
• Record of teaching excellence and service
• Record of peer-reviewed publications
• Excellent knowledge of English
• Experience in teaching in online format; familiarity with LMS Canvas, Zoom, an advantage
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills

The OSCE Academy will provide/cover:
• 1360 – 1600 EUR / credit as gross salary. Final amount depending on interview results
• Economy class roundtrip airfare from the city of current residence to Bishkek
• Office space and computer, as well as access to all facilities of the OSCE Academy
