  • Master Students in Economic Governance and Development learn about the OSCE within the Special Module

    From 3 till 12 November the OSCE Academy held a special module on the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) for the new cohort of students in the MA Programme in Economic Governance and Development. The module aimed to widen and deepen the students’ understanding of the key goals, principles and values of the OSCE. Dr. Diana Digol, Deputy Head of the Programme Office in Nur Sultan, was coordinating the module, with valuable contributions made by representatives from the OSCE executive structures.

  • Mingul Seitkazieva'07 Receives Alumna of the Year 2020 Award

    Every year the OSCE Academy Alumni Network selects one graduate to receive the title of the Alumna/us of the Year. The Award honours the Academy’s most outstanding alumni.   • Virtual Plov Cook-Off Brings Together Alumni from All Over the World

    On 25 October OSCE Academy in Bishkek held a virtual networking event called "Plov Cook-off", initiated by two of our alumni Rashid Gabdulhakov and Farkhod Aminjonov. Thirteen alumni from all over the world gathered together on a Sunday evening and had productive and joyful two hours full of laughs, heart-warming moments and cultural, and political debates.

  • Second Interdisciplinary Conference on “Value Transformation in Central Asia”

    On 16-17 October the OSCE Academy and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation co-organized Interdisciplinary Conference on “Value Transformation in Central Asia.” Distinguished Speakers and Participants were welcomed by Dr. Alexander Wolters, Director of the OSCE Academy in Bishkek, Alexander Rosenplaenter, Director of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Kyrgyzstan, and Johanna Lutz, Head of the FES Office of Democracy, Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Austria.

  • Academy’s DAAD Associate Professor Delivers a Guest Lecture at the University of Texas

    On 29 September Dr. Anja Mihr, DAAD Associate Professor at the OSCE Academy, delivered a guest lecture on "Regime Change and Transnational Justice in Europe after 1945 and 1989" to students of the “Introduction to European Studies” course of the Department of Germanic Studies, researchers, and interested scholars and practitioners of the University of Texas.

  • Programme for Young Experts conducted within the framework of the CABAR.asia School of Analytics 2020

    From 21 till 26 September the Institute for War and Peace Reporting (IWPR CA) in partnership with the OSCE Academy in Bishkek held its third School for Young Analytics Cabar.asia. Due to COVID-19 pandemic the School was held online. This School is conducted with the financial support of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a part of the project “Giving Voice, Driving Change – From the Borderland to the Steppes”, jointly implemented by IWPR and the OSCE Academy since 2018.

  • Ambassador of the State of Israel visits the OSCE Academy

    On 15 September 2020 the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the State of Israel to Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, Liat Wexelman, paid an introductory visit to the OSCE Academy. Ambassador Wexelman met Director Alexander Wolters and learned about the Academy’s activities and programmes and shortly presented the activities organized by the Israeli Embassy jointly with the OSCE mission in Kazakhstan.

  • Associate Research Fellow Presents the Global Peace Index 2020 and Case Study of Women, Peace, and Security Agenda

    On 26 August the Associate Research Fellow of the OSCE Academy, Dr. Ana Belen Perianes, presented the Global Peace Index 2020 and Case Study of the Women, Peace, and Security Agenda in Its 20 Anniversary. The GPI ranks 163 independent states and territories according to their level of peacefulness and presents comprehensive data-driven analysis to-date on trends in peace, its economic value, and how to develop peaceful societies.

  • Third ECPR-OSCE/ODIHR Summer School on Political Parties and Democracy

    On 17 August, the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) and the European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR) launched their week-long Summer School on Political Parties and Democracy. This third edition of the summer school was organized in collaboration with the OSCE Academy in Bishkek, the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw, and the Research Centre for the Study of Parties and Democracy - REPRESENT - of the University of Nottingham.

  • Newly Enrolled MA Students joined the Preparatory Summer School

    From 3 till 28 August 2020 the OSCE Academy conducted its Preparatory Summer School for newly enrolled MA students. Due to the COVID-19 crisis, this school was held in the online format. The participants were 52 students from Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and the USA.
