  • Experts Discuss Migration and Human Trafficking with the PS Students

    From 15 till 19 June students of the MA Programme in Politics and Security met seven experts within the module “Migration and Human Trafficking” taught by Dr. Daniel Leitch. One of the first Guest Lecturers was Ms. Raushan Bolotalieva, Academy alumna of 2011 and currently the National Programme Manager at UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in Kyrgyzstan, who presented the activities of the UNODC in the field of Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants.

  • ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT: OSCE Academy is the best place to connect future leaders of Central Asia

    We would like to present a success story of Danat Tumabayev from Kazakhstan, an alumnus of the OSCE Academy MA Economic Governance and Development, class of 2017. Today, Danat is working as Zhas Orken specialist at the subsidiary of Sovereign Wealth Fund «Samruk-Kazyna» JSC, which initiated a contest amongst the graduates for participation in the two-year Zhas Orken program that aims to attract and prepare future executives and top managers.

    On 15 June the OSCE Academy organized its first alumni online practical workshop titled “The Art of Storytelling for Researchers”. It was conceived as part of our annual Alumni Survey, where our alumni shared their desired topics or practical skills they would like to enhance or use for their professional development.

  • OSCE AiB alumna Hafasa Issa: ‘My OSCE Academy experience shaped me as a person and a leader’

    Another success story of our alumna from Afghanistan in our recurrent Alumni Spotlight series. This time MA Programme in Politics and Security graduate of 2013, Hafasa Issa talks about how her professional journey was unfolding after graduating from the Academy. She is currently working for the UN as a Human Rights Officer in Afghanistan and does an important job of promoting access to justice for women, fostering human rights protection across Afghanistan and dealing with the elimination of violence against women.

  • ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT: Inextricable Ties with the Alma-Mater

    A story of success of the Politics and Security Programme graduate of 2018 Khurshed Abduqodiri, where he talks about how the Academy contributed to his professional growth and his continuous ties with the alma-mater. Khurshed is currently working as an Advisor to the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) Regional Project Ecosystem-based adaptation to climate change in high mountainous regions of Central Asia, which is being implemented in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.

    We are glad to present our next alumnus - Medet Suleimen - and his professional and personal success in advancing democratic values in Kazakhstan. Since 2014 Medet is working as a Programme Officer for the Friedrich Ebert Foundation Kazakhstan Office in Almaty and manages a wide array of projects in the fields of foreign policy and youth policy.

  • Academy Alumna presents at the OSCE Webinar on COVID-19 and Youth

    On 22 May Ms. Elvira Kalmurzaeva, alumna of 2015 and currently the Executive Director at the International Debate Education Association (IDEA) Central Asia, discussed the impact of COVID-19 crisis on youth of Kyrgyzstan and how young people tackle it at the webinar on “The Covid-19 Generation: How Youth Can Help Strengthen Security in the Current Crisis” organized jointly by the Albanian OSCE Chairmanship and the Secretariat. Ms. Kalmurzaeva discussed issues related to young people’s access to education and employment opportunities during the current crisis.

  • OSCE Academy Director addresses OSCE Permanent Council

    On 21 May OSCE Academy Director Dr. Alexander Wolters addressed the OSCE Permanent Council within the Annual Report presentation of the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek delivered by Ambassador Pierre von Arx. Dr. Wolters presented the summary of the activities of the OSCE Academy for the period since June 2019 and outlined several key developments as well as plans for the near future.
