16 November - allowing the students to explore contemporary aspects of refugee protection in the Central Asian region was the main purpose of the presentation "Protection of Refugees in Accordance with International Refugee Law and Domestic Law" by Ms. Anna NEE (National Protection Officer with the UNHCR Representation in the Kyrgyz Republic).

On May 28, 2012, the OSCE Academy has signed an Agreement with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Afghanistan allowing its graduates from Afghanistan to intern at the Ministry.

On May 14, 2012 Alumni chapter from Tajikistan, together with the OSCE Academy Director Maxim Ryabkov and Academic Assistant Nazira Abakirova met with Mr. Istvan Nyitrai Deputy Head of Mission, Delegation of the EU to the Republic of Tajikistan.

On May 5-6 OSCE Academy has conducted the 2nd Alumni Conference on Comprehensive Security and Sustainable Development in Bishkek. Around thirty alumni from Central Asia and Afghanistan participated in the conference. This year the conference was opened by the public lecture "Securing Central Asia" by Dr. Sally Cummings, Senior Lecturer, University of St. Andrews. 16 alumni presented their papers within the three OSCE dimensions-panels: Political Military, Human and Economic-Environmental.

On April 13, 2012 alumna Lene Wetteland initiated a meeting of the OSCE Academy students of the Masters Programme in Politics and Security with the Helsinki Committee and the Norwegian dialogue/human rights organization Oslo Center for Peace and Human Rights representatives.

Janyl Bokonbaeva, one of the first alumnae of the OSCE Academy's Masters Programme in Politics and Security (Central Asia) has published a monograph "Kyrgyzstan-OSCE- ways of co-operation." The author undertakes a comprehensive analysis of co-operation between Kyrgyzstan and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).

Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Center in Bishkek, with support of the Diplomatic Academy of Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of International Affairs of Kyrgyz Republic organized a course "Preparation for Work for an International Organizations (UN, OSCE, Council of Europe, CIS, CSTO and SCO) and International Elections Observers," that was held in Moscow on 05-16 September 2011.
