  • Training and Debate Tournament "HUMAN RIGHTS CUP 2017" for Schoolchildren

    From 9 till 12 December, the OSCE Academy and the International Debate Education Association (IDEA CA) held a four-day training and debate in British Parliamentary Debate Format "HUMAN RIGHTS CUP 2017" for schoolchildren. The event was part of a project to change the attitudes towards bride kidnapping, with the financial support of the IFA CCP Plus program (Germany).

  • Elvira Kalmurzaeva '15: Idea to have an IDEA

    Elvira Kalmurzaeva is a graduate of the MA in Politics and Security, class of 2015. This year Elvira received the Alumna of the Year 2017 Award for her professional achievements, her enthusiasm and contribution to the development of the youth of the region. During her studies, Elvira was one of the most active students and after the graduation started realizing her ambitions further. Today Elvira is the Executive Director of the International Debate Education Association in Central Asia (IDEA CA), who finds time to run marathons, fight for human rights, and participate in many other projects.

  • Raushan Bolotalieva: Alumni Travel Grant 2017

    Raushan Bolotalieva '11 received the Alumni Travel Grant 2017 to participate in the Advanced Training on Security Sector Reform in The Hague, Netherlands from 27 November to 1 December 2017. This five-day intensive residential course was organized by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the International Security Sector Advisory Team (ISSAT) of the Geneva Centre for the Democratic Control of Armed Forces (DCAF).

  • Mingul Seitkazieva '07: Life after the OSCE Academy

    I was born in Kadamjay, one of the remotest corners in Fergana valley that inherited post-Soviet complex of border, enclaves and inter-ethnic problems between three Central Asian states, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. While being a student of Osh State University, I took part at the very first OSCE Central Asian Youth Network (CAYN) in Uzbekistan. Together with my peers from other Central Asian countries, I took part in a research seminar on regional problems.

  • International Certificate Programme in Conflict Sensitive Development

    On 21 November the OSCE Academy opened a two-week long International Certificate Programme in Conflict Sensitive Development. This is an annual training programme of the Academy designed for participants from all Central Asian states and Afghanistan.

  • Module “The OSCE” for Students of the MA in Politics and Security Programme

    In the week of 20-24 November the OSCE Academy conducted the Module “The OSCE” for students of the MA in Politics and Security Programme. This is an intensive modular course taught by Dr. Pal Dunay, Visiting Professor from the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany.

  • The 5th Alumni Conference on Central Asia: Comprehensive Security and Sustainable Development

    On 18-19 November the OSCE Academy has conducted the 5th Alumni Conference on Comprehensive Security and Sustainable Development in Bishkek. Around forty alumni and students from Central Asia, Afghanistan and OSCE region participated in the event.

    On 6 November 2017 the OSCE Academy in Bishkek launched the Policy Paper Writing Seminar for young scholars, experts from the region and Afghanistan. This seminar will take place until 10 November 2017.

    On 2 November, the visiting lecturer Mr. Dieter von Blarer moderated the round table entitled, “Does State Performance in Human Rights and Governance Influence National and Regional Security in Central Asia” as part of the module on “Human Rights and International Law.”

  • OSCE Academy Director presents at the Board of Trustees meeting

    On 1 November 2017 the Director of the OSCE Academy Dr. Wolters travelled to Vienna to attend the regular Board of Trustees meeting, presided by HE Ambassador Pierre von Arx, Head of the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek. The meeting served the main purpose to inform the members of the Board about the current activities of the Academy and the plans for 2018 and beyond.
