On 6 October 2023 Ms. Tatevika Paronjana, Political Advisor to the EU Special Representative for Central Asia paid a visit to the OSCE Academy to learn more about its activities in the region. Dr. Indira Satarkulova, Acting Director of the OSCE Academy, has presented the ongoing programmes and activities of the Academy, plans for a near future, as well as shared the achievements and challenges faced.

On 30 September 2023, Prof. Dr. Verónica Gómez, President of the Global Campus of Human Rights in Venice, who also serves as a Professor of Law at the University of San Martin in Buenos Aires, and as a Judge at the Interamerican Court for Human Rights in Costa Rica, delivered a master class on Regional Protection of Human Rights – Inter-American System for the Protection of Human Rights to MAHRS students.

On 29 September 2023, the OSCE Academy in Bishkek together with the Global Campus of Human Rights in Venice commemorated the 75th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration for Human Rights (UDHR) and held the opening ceremony for the regional Master Programme in Liberal Arts in Human Rights and Sustainability (MAHRS) in Central Asia.

From 25 to 28 September 2023, a Certificate Training on Conflict-Sensitive Journalism was held at the OSCE Academy, co-organized by the OSCE Academy and CRISP, Berlin. The training comprised sessions, lectures, simulation games, and media production.

On 24 September, Acting Director of the OSCE Academy, Dr. Indira Satarkulova, and the MAHRS Academic Supervisor, Prof. Dr. Anja Mihr, attended the awarding of diplomas of the European Master’s Programme in Human Rights and Democratisation for the academic year 2022/23 and the inauguration of the 27th cohort of students (academic year 2023/24), that took place at Scuola Grande di San Rocco in Venice, Italy.

From 17 till 21 September 2023, a Certificate Training on Peace and Conflict took place at the OSCE Academy. This training was co-organized by the OSCE Academy and CRISP - Crisis Simulation for Peace e.V. based in Germany. The 5-day course provided the participants from Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan with a comprehensive introduction into concepts, tools and methods in the field of conflict transformation.

On 21 September 2023, students of the MA Programmes had the opportunity to meet Mr. Tadeusz Jedrzejczak, Vice-Marshal of the Lubuskie Voivodeship and the Chairman of the European INTERREG Committee, who was accompanied by his team members - Mr.Radosław Brodzik, Director of the Department of Foreign Cooperation and Mr. Mieczysław Łapanowski.

On 15 September 2023 the OSCE Academy was honoured to welcome Ms. Matilda Bogner, Regional Representative of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights for Central Asia. Mr. Colin McCullough, Senior Planning and Co-ordination Officer, and Mr. Christopher Blair, Head of the Human Department, OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek, joined the event and welcomed Ms. Bogner to the OSCE Academy.

On 14 September 2023 the OSCE Academy held a public lecture on the topic of the Regional Security Regime Emerging in Central Asia. Anna Jordanova, a Ph.D. Candidate at the Institute of International Studies at Charles University in Prague and a Research Fellow at the OSCE Academy presented the policy brief that elaborates on the problem of rising uncertainty across and within the Central Asian region and the reaction of the respective national regimes.

On 12 September 2023 MA students of the Politics and Security Programme had an opportunity to meet Ms. Lilla Schumicky-Logan, Deputy Executive Director and Head of Portfolio Management at the Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund (GCERF). Ms. Schumicky-Logan delivered a presentation on “Radicalisation that leads to Violent Extremism: Root Causes and Prevention Mechanisms” and also briefed students about the activities of GCERF.
