Workshop on Eurasia in Geopolitical Globalised World

From 25 till 27 July 2024 the OSCE Academy hosts a workshop “Eurasia in Geopolitical Globalised World” led by Prof. Vincent Della Sala, Professor of political science at the University of Trento and the Director of the Jean Monnet Centre. The event was opened by Dr. Pal Dunay, Interim Director of the OSCE Academy, who welcomed the participants and shortly introduced the Academy’s activities, and by Prof. Della Sala, who provided an overview of the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence on Geopolitics in Eurasia work and the workshop itself.

Experts and Policy Makers Discuss Climate Change in Central Asia: Science and Policy

On 10 July 2024, the OSCE Academy in Bishkek organized its second roundtable on "Central Asia’s Readiness for Climate Change: Science and Policy” as part of the Jean Monnet Module - European Climate Policy project funded by the European Union. Representatives from the government of the Kyrgyz Republic, non-profit organizations, international organizations, and universities in Central Asia took part in the event.

OSCE/DCAF Summer School on Human Security and Climate Change for Alumni of the OSCE Academy

From 1 till 5 July 2024 the OSCE Conflict Prevention Centre (CPC), the Office of the Co-ordinator of OSCE Economic and Environmental Activities (OCEEA) jointly with the Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance (DCAF) and the OSCE Academy conducted a Summer School on Human Security and Climate Change. Academy graduates from Central Asia, Mongolia and Afghanistan learned about the principles of a well-governed security sector, including a specific focus on the security implications stemming from climate change in Central Asia as a risk-multiplier for instability in the region.

From 2 to 4 July the OSCE Academy had the honour to welcome Col. Thomas Ahammer, Defence Attaché of Austria for Armenia and Kazakhstan (with residence in Vienna), for a number of guest lectures to the Academy’s alumni and students.

From 1 to 3 July 2024 the OSCE Academy organized a workshop on “Regionalism and Regionalization in the Context of Global Transformation” for MA and BA students of the American University of Central Asia and the OSCE Academy, led by Dr. Sebastian Mayer, DAAD Associate Professor at the Academy.

Students Meet World Bank Country Manager to Discuss Good Governance

On 3 July 2024 students of the MA in Economic Governance and Development group met Mr. Hugh Riddell, the World Bank Country Manager for the Kyrgyz Republic to discuss the projects of the World Bank and activities in Kyrgyzstan. During his talk Mr. Riddell shared his extensive professional experience with the students, particularly working in countries during crises, such as Afghanistan, Somalia, and Malawi, three states where he spent several years during his carrier.

OSCE Chair-in-Office, Minister for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade of Malta, visits the OSCE Academy

On 27 June 2024, the OSCE Academy had the honor of welcoming the OSCE Chair-in-Office, Minister for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade of Malta, H.E. Dr. Ian Borg, who visited the Academy as part of his official visit to the Kyrgyz Republic.

OSCE Academy and Kyrgyz Anti-Corruption Business Council sign MoU within MOCCA Meeting

On 26 June 2024, the OSCE Academy hosted the Multilevel Orders of Corruption in Central Asia (MOCCA) team meeting. The meeting started with the ceremony of signing a bilateral Memorandum of Understanding between the two project partners – the OSCE Academy in Bishkek and the Anti-Corruption Business Council under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic.

On 24 June 2024, the OSCE Academy welcomed H.E. Toomas Tirs, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Estonia to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, for an introductory visit.

Global Campus Central Asia/OSCE Academy welcomes MAHRS Central Asian Partners

The Global Campus Central Asia/OSCE Academy welcomed its Central Asian partners of the MA in Human Rights and Sustainability Programme (MAHRS) from Kazakhstan (KIMEP, Karaganda Buketov University), Kyrgyzstan (American University of Central Asia) and Uzbekistan (The University of World Economy and Diplomacy).
