Project Coordinator for GCCA Children’s Rights Project
The OSCE Academy in Bishkek is a public foundation established in 2002 through a partnership between the Kyrgyz Government and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). The Academy promotes OSCE principles and values through postgraduate education, advanced research, professional training, and intellectual exchange. It offers three MA programmes that admit young professionals annually on a competitive basis from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, and Mongolia.
In 2023, the OSCE Academy and the Global Campus of Human Rights in Venice launched the Global Campus Central Asia (GCCA) and the MAHRS programme. It features an 18-month, full-time MA programme in Human Rights and Sustainability.
In April 2024, GCCA launched a Children’s Rights project aiming to support the implementation and strengthening of children’s rights in Central Asia by empowering children and youth, increasing the knowledge and expertise of MAHRS and OSCE Academy students and alumni on children’s rights, and encouraging their engagement in advocacy and policy development.
Main tasks and responsibilities:
The Project Coordinator will support the GCCA’s Children’s Rights Regional Officer in implementing the project activities in Almaty, Kazakhstan, in partnership with KIMEP University. The main responsibilities include supporting the Children’s Rights project to conduct child-led research in Almaty through:
– Support in selecting children (10-15) aged 14-17 living in Almaty, motivated to be part of the child-led research project on climate justice and children’s rights.
– Organizing capacity-building activities (trainings, workshops, etc.) on research, climate change, children’s rights, etc. for the selected children.
– Organizing field visits for data collection by the children (only in Almaty city), taking safety and security measures.
– Mentoring and supervision of the children during all stages of the research, including report writing.
– Coordinating with the Children’s Rights Regional Officer in Bishkek, partners, and other stakeholders to collect information, stories, photos, and other materials for communication purposes.
– Timely reporting to the GCCA’s Children’s Rights Regional Officer about the progress, challenges, and problems related to the implementation of the child-led research project in Almaty.
– Supporting the planning, organizing, and logistics of workshops, trainings, conferences, webinars, and other GCCA activities in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
– Providing other administrative and organizational support related to GCCA activities in Almaty, Kazakhstan, as required.
Qualifications and eligibility:
– be a final-year Bachelor student or a recent graduate;
– be fluent in English and Russian;
– have good computer and MS Office skills;
– have good written and verbal communication skills
– be responsible, organised, and able to work independently and in a team;
– work experience in mobilizing children and youth is a good asset.
