From 14 to 16 October 2026, Dr. Emil Dzhuraev, Senior Lecturer, and Dr. Sebastian Mayer, Associate Professor at the OSCE Academy, participated in the IPSA Regional Conference in Wrocław, Poland. The conference, titled “Resilience of Democracy in a Polarized World: Populism, Autocratization, and Global Challenges,” was convened in cooperation with the International Political Science Association (IPSA), the Polish Political Science Association, and the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Wrocław.
On 16 October, both faculty members contributed to the panel “Regionalism, Security and Legitimation in Central Asia,” within the thematic area of Global and Environmental Challenges. Dr. Dzhuraev presented his research “Central Asia in a Multiplex World: Advent of a Regional Multi-vectorism?”, examining the region’s evolving external engagement and regional positioning. Dr. Mayer presented “Regime Complexity and Norm Contestation in Security Governance: The Case of Counter-Terrorism in Central Asia,” exploring how competing security norms and institutional arrangements shape counter-terrorism governance. Their contributions brought perspectives on Central Asia’s regional and security dynamics to the conference’s international scholarly discussions.
