  • Students learned about the Agroforestry Activities in Central Asia

    On 14 February Dr. Niels Thevs, Coordinator for Central Asia for World Agroforestry – ICRAF, currently with the University of Central Asia, delivered a lecture on “Water Resources and Agriculture in Central Asia – Positive Contributions from Agroforestry” to students of the MA in Economic Governance and Development programme.

  • Professional Skills and Assets for Successful Job Applications Workshop

    From 22 to 25 January, a new workshop was held at the OSCE Academy - Professional Skills and Assets for Successful Job Applications. The workshop was run by trainers Dr. Rolf Kuchenbuch, Visiting Professor (Langzeit-Dozent) German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and Ms. Amelia Hagen, TEDxAUCA Organizer and Curator and Social Entrepreneurship Program Coordinator at the American University of Central Asia (AUCA), who taught 28 participants from Central Asia on how to build personal branding.

  • Official Statement

    The OSCE Academy would like to draw attention to the fact that recently, a former student has publicly, as well as directly to several institutions, spread allegations of violation of the Charter of the Academy and accused its management of corruption. The OSCE Academy’s staff and students have committed to a code of conduct, to be respected by all. The OSCE Academy is accountable to the OSCE’s 57 participating States and depends on the funding provided by them. The OSCE takes extremely seriously any allegations of violation of rules, discrimination or corruption and has activated well-established procedures in response to the above-mentioned allegations that will provide further assurance on the correct and efficient use of the Academy’s resources. In parallel, The Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the OSCE Academy has conducted a preliminary inquiry into the implementation of the obligations set by the Charter of the OSCE Academy concerning the admission and the expulsion of students, which did not show any deviation from applicable procedures.

  • CADGAT: Launch of new datasets

    On 14 January the “CADGAT: Launch of new Datasets” seminar took place at the OSCE Academy. The Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI) and the OSCE Academy established the Central Asia Data-Gathering and Analysis Team (CADGAT) in 2009. The purpose of CADGAT is to produce new cross-regional data on Central Asia that can be freely used by researchers, journalists, NGOs and government employees inside and outside the region.

  • First NUPI-OSCE Academy Research Mentorship Internal Workshop

    On 12 January the first NUPI-OSCE Academy Research Mentorship Internal Workshop took place at the Academy. This Research Mentoring programme was launched in summer 2018 and engages six OSCE Academy alumni. Mentees work jointly with Mentors at NUPI and will publish one academic article in a peer-reviewed journal in 2019.

  • Academy’s Representative Presented at the Regional Conference on “Women’s Economic Inclusion: From Theory to Practice” in Kabul, Afghanistan

    From 16 till 17 December Ms. Svetlana Dzardanova, Programme Manager of the MA Programme in Politics and Security, presented at the Regional Conference on “Women’s Economic Inclusion: From Theory to Practice” in Kabul. The conference was organized by the Women’s Center (TWC) at the American University of Afghanistan (AUAF). Ms. Dzardanova presented “The Comparative Analysis of the Legal Gender Related Framework in Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan: How National Laws and International Conventions Work in Practice” at the panel on Gender Inclusive Trade and Industrialization.

  • MA Students 2017-2018 Received Their Degrees

    On 14 December 47 students of the MA Programme in Politics and Security and the MA Programme in Economic Governance and Development graduated from the OSCE Academy in Bishkek. The Graduation Ceremony was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, the OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek, members of the Diplomatic Corps, partners and donors as well as parents and friends of the graduates.
