Biography
Dr. Zalkar Kamalov is an economist with extensive experience in public sector development, international projects, and academia. He is currently a Lecturer at Kyrgyz National University, where he teaches microeconomics and macroeconomics.
He has held a number of senior management and advisory positions in international organizations and government-related institutions. Most recently, he served as Regional Program Manager at Mercy Corps, overseeing the implementation of a nationwide education and school nutrition programme in Kyrgyzstan funded by the USDA.
Dr. Kamalov has also worked with USAID, UNDP, the World Bank, and the University of Central Asia, contributing to projects on economic development, capacity building, and public sector reform. His experience includes leading large-scale projects, managing multidisciplinary teams, and advising on economic policy and institutional development.
He holds a PhD in Economics from Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University. His research and professional interests focus on economic development, transition economies, public policy, and energy sector reform.
