On 15–17 April 2026, OSCE Academy staff and MAHRS programme representatives contributed to the international conference “Climate Change, Justice and Human Rights,” held in Yerevan, which brought together experts from academia, civil society, policy institutions, and international organizations to examine the links between climate change, human rights, justice, and security. The conference was jointly organized under the Right Livelihood project “Climate and Conflicts: Redress and Prevention,” in cooperation with Global Campus Caucasus, Center for European Studies, Yerevan State University, Global Campus Central Asia, and the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence DeHuRiS. It provided a platform for interdisciplinary dialogue and reinforced cross-regional cooperation on addressing climate challenges through human rights-based approaches.

Dr. Anja Mihr, Director of the MAHRS programme and visiting lecturer at the OSCE Academy, explored the connections between climate, conflict, and security. Professor Dr. Sagynbek Orunbaev, Visiting Lecturer for the MAHRS Programme, presented findings on climate-related air pollution and wintertime social exposure. Ms. Kristina Ryabova, MAHRS Alumna, contributed to the discussions on the role of events by international organizations in Kazakhstan in boosting youth participation in climate policy-making.
Ms. Cholpon Osmonalieva, Head of the Education Department at the OSCE Academy, also participated in the conference and supported the MAHRS programme’s engagement together with Ms. Aiym Chotoeva, MAHRS Programme Specialist.
