On 16 May 2022, OSCE Academy DAAD Associate Professor, Dr. Anja Mihr, and OSCE Academy Senior lecturer, Dr. Viktoria Akchurina, participated in the conference „The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and its impact on Human Rights compliance along the‚ New Silk Road,“ organized by Dr. Udo Steinbach, Director at the MENA Study Center of the Maecenata Foundation, together with Dr. Anja Mihr, and Dr. Brigitte Weiffen from The Open University (UK) and Chair of IPSA Research Committee 34 “Quality of Democracy.”

On 20 May 2022, Ms. Ziming Rao, Adjunct Professor at Webster University in Tashkent and an expert in accounting and finance, visited the OSCE Academy and delivered a guest lecture to students of the MA in Economic Governance and Development Programme. During the lecture, titled “The Nuts and Bolts of Business Plan: a USAID Project to assist SMEs in Issyk-kul Region,” Ms. Rao explained why the business plan is important and what the structure and content of a good business plan should look like.

On April 29, 2022, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic and the OSCE Academy in Bishkek signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen the cooperation in youth crime and drug use prevention.

On 29 April 2022, the OSCE Academy hosted the first Living Lab workshop on Traffic and Active Mobility, jointly co-implemented and co-funded by SPCE Hub and Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Kyrgyzstan. Representatives of civil society, researchers, and academics took part in the event to discuss traffic, active mobility, and urban sustainable development.

On 28 April 25 young professionals and students from 25 OSCE participating States began the five-month “Perspectives 20-30 Online Academy” 2nd Edition. The Office of the OSCE Secretary General, in partnership with the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, the OSCE Academy in Bishkek, and the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Regional Office for Cooperation and Peace in Europe strongly supports this initiative.
